Russia is a vast and diverse nation that continues to evolve politically, economically, and socially. Most U.S. citizens find their stay in Russia both exciting and rewarding, but travel and living conditions in Russia contrast sharply with those in the United States. Major urban centers show tremendous differences in economic development compared to rural areas. While good tourist facilities exist in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and some other large cities, they are not developed in most of Russia, and some of the goods and services taken for granted in other countries are not yet available. Russian visa requirements are complex, and U.S. citizens must take care that they do not unintentionally violate entry and exit regulations. Travel to the North Caucasus region of Russia is dangerous; the Department of State recommends U.S. citizens not travel to Chechnya and the rest of the North Caucasus region, including Mt. Elbrus. Chinese Visa Terms

Chinese Visa Application Service Centre (hereinafter referred to as the Centre) is responsible for receiving visa applications for visit to mainland China from ordinary passport holders who are UK citizens and citizens of other countries possessing UK permanent residence or work permits, collecting visa fees on behalf of the Chinese Embassy and returning processed visa applications. Foreign nationals holding diplomatic and service (official) passports or eligible for applying for China's diplomatic, service and courtesy visas and visa-exempt certificate, and those applying for a visa /entry permit to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China should still apply directly to the Chinese Embassy .

The Centre welcomes you using its services. While providing you high quality services, we kindly remind you of the following:

i.The Centre has no involvement in the visa assessment and decision- making process. Whether a visa is to be issued or not to be issued, and what type of visa to be issued as well as its period of validity, number of entry and duration of stay shall be decided by the Chinese Embassy in the light of China's relevant laws and regulations. An applicant will be required to pay a service fee to the Centre regardless of approval or disapproval of his or her application by the Embassy . The service fee is non-refundable.

Chinese Visa Rules

During a press conference held on 9 May, 2013, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying answered the question about China-UK relationship.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron reportedly told the parliament on May 8 that the UK recognizes Tibet as part of China, does not support "Tibetan independence" and respects China's sovereignty, adding that the UK wants to "have a strong and positive relationship with China". What is China's comment?

Tibet is an inalienable part of China and Tibet-related issues are China's internal affairs. The Dalai Lama is a political exile who has long been engaged in anti-China separatist activities in the name of religion. China is firmly opposed to foreign leaders' meeting with the Dalai Lama in whatever form as well as foreign countries' intervention in China's internal affairs under whatever pretext. China always hopes that the UK could respect China's major concerns and take concrete measures to bring bilateral relations back to the track of sound development. We have noted Prime Minister Cameron's remarks and hope that the UK would continue to respect China's major concerns, deal with relevant issue in a correct and prudent way and send a coherent message to the outside world.

Visa Policy and Rules

Recent changes in U.S. laws governing visa policy and procedures have increased the amount of time it can take to obtain a visa. Apply early! Even with the visa processing improvements that have been made and will continue to be made, it is inevitable that delays will sometimes occur. Processing times will vary.

The State Department's goal is visa delivery no more than 30 days from the time of application in most cases, although cases that require administrative processing could take longer. Most administrative processing is resolved within 60 days of application. When administrative processing is required, the timing will vary based on individual circumstances of each case. Therefore, before making inquiries about status of administrative processing, applicants or their representatives will need to wait at least 90 days from the date of interview or submission of supplemental documents, whichever is later.

History of Visa

Some visas can be granted on arrival or by prior application at the country's embassy or consulate, or through a private visa service specialized in the issuance of international travel documents. These agencies are authorized by the foreign authority, embassy, or consulate to represent international travelers who are unable or unwilling to travel to the embassy and apply in person. Private visa and passport services collect an additional fee for verifying customer applications, supporting documents, and submitting them to the appropriate authority. If there is no embassy or consulate in one's home country, then one would have to travel to a third country (or apply by post) and try to get a visa issued there. The need or absence of need of a visa generally depends on the citizenship of the applicant, the intended duration of the stay, and the activities that the applicant may wish to undertake in the country he visits; these may delineate different formal categories of visas, with different issue conditions.
Some countries apply the principle of reciprocity in their visa policy. A country's visa policy is called reciprocal if it imposes visa requirement against citizens of all the countries which impose visa requirements against its own citizens. The opposite is never true: no country lifts visa requirements against citizens of all the countries which lift visa requirements against its own citizens

Visa - Document for Travel

A visa (from the Latin charta visa, lit. "paper that has been seen")^[1] is a document showing that a person is authorized to enter or leave the territory for which it was issued, subject to permission of an immigration official at the time of actual entry. The authorization may be a document, but more commonly it is a stamp endorsed in the applicant's passport (or passport-replacing document). Some countries do not require a visa in some situations, such as a result of reciprocal treaty arrangements. The country issuing the visa typically attaches various conditions of stay, such as the territory covered by the visa, dates of validity, period of stay, whether the visa is valid for more than one visit, etc.

A visa generally gives non-citizens clearance to enter a country and to remain there within specified constraints, such as a time frame for entry, a limit on the time spent in the country, and a prohibition against employment. The possession of a visa is not in itself a guarantee of entry into the country that issued it, and a visa can be revoked at any time. A visa application in advance of arrival gives the country a chance to consider the applicant's circumstance, such as financial security, reason for applying, and details of previous visits to the country. A visitor may also be required to undergo and pass security and/or health checks upon arrival at the border.
